We are now one week into the year 2011…How’s it treating you so far? I can’t complain…well, I actually I could but I’d be stretching to find something to complain about. How ’bout that?!

I have a couple new projects on my plate that Im excited about, and a whole new year to look forward to. Oh, I got Netflix, which is proving to be an even worse distraction than The Sims ever could be. At the rate Im going, Ill probably watch their entire library of movies before the year is out…even the scary ones. Especially the scary ones!!! But Im such a wuss. The Red Shoes (Actually The Pink Shoes…a Korean horror flick) now has me terrified of the sound of someone walking in heels, and Paranormal Activity has me scared of….everything else. So yeah, Im staying up *wide awake* and getting a lot of work done nowadays…

MySpace 3.0 (Band) Profiles #$%!@#

Okay, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is Im aware of the situation. The bad news is there isnt much I can do about it….

Ah! You want more info eh? You sure about that? Okay, well MySpace Profiles have updated to the 3.0 version….and so now all the nifty custom design possibilities for your profile has now downgraded to…bare. Ive been doing some research and it looks like theres nothing to set your MySpace band profile apart from the rest besides a few little personal touches, like a header and background image….Well, okay thats not a few, thats two.

So yeah, if I designed your band profile for you, Ill be going back through and updating the design..eg fix up your header and background and colours…after that, my hands are tied. Be sure to get in touch with me if I dont contact you first…

Proof I Do Stuff!

After so long of this sitting on my to-do list, I’ve finally made some changes to my own site and updated my portfolio. Now you can see a sample of the websites, promotional/print work and photography that Ive done.

A neat lil thing I did is I updated my services page to include rate calculator so that you can get a ball park figure of what your project is going to run you. Shop around, Im verrry reasonable, plus I offer a discount to musicians…yes, I love you all that much! If your budget and/or time is very limited, get a template and Ill customize it for you. Also, anyone who wants to take advantage can buy a domain from GoDaddy for only $7.49 (their regular price is 11.99).

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!! When you’re at the table ready to eat and you get called upon to give the blessing…if find yourself at a loss for words, just fall back on my old faithful “Good food, Good meat, Good God lets eat!” Amen.

Living Room Diaries Debut!

Tonight the Living Room Diaries, hosted by Kirk Green, debuts at the Van Dyke Cafe. They are back, bigger and better than ever! What started out as an internet program showcasing local talent, has now burst onto cable scene. LRD is now part of the TelAmerica Media family, Comcast Channel 88. How cool is that?!!

I re-developed their website using WordPress as the framework and totally customizing the design and functionality of a wp theme. Features include featured topics presented as a slideshow on the top of the page, integration with the Facebook “Like” feature for fans to share site content on their Facebook profiles and a flash video player.

So about this debut, there will be much merriment.
I will be there…oh yes I will. Will you?

Long awaited and finally here, the Deez Nuts Apparel website is up and running and ready to take orders! Deez Nuts is a brand spanking new wholesale / retail apparel company based in Miami, Fl. Long-time friends David Siegel (of RAGING GEISHA) and Dave Fernandez, another local musician, have taken their clever one-liners to the next level by developing a clothing line of novelty t-shirts.

This ecommerce website was developed on the osCommerce platform, includes custom design and payments are processed easily and securely though PayPal. Customers are able to register to keep track of current orders as well as view past orders. There is also a newsletter feature to allow Deez Nuts to keep their customers abreast of new designs and latest updates.

Power of Pink

The Power of Pink website was developed to help promote the book Power of Pink written by Fawn Estes in support of a close friend to help offset medical costs. 100% of the proceeds will go to her friend, and so Fawn had a strict budget that she needed to keep to and wanted to be able to make updates on her own.

WordPress not only makes a great blog, but its also a top notch CMS (Content Management System). It allows me to design the site, and allows a user to easily go in and make changes to the content without having to touch a single line of code. Its a great option for those who want to maintain their own site, but dont want to touch, or even look at code to do it.

Even though Fawn had a tight budget, her needs were very simple and the process was straight-forward from start to finish. I was able to complete her site within budget, and she decided to also include a store. Even the ecommerce aspect of this site is completely managed within WordPress, so Fawn is able to maintain the shop as easily as any other content on this site.

Updating Your Domain Nameserver in GoDaddy

In order for your domain name to point to your website, you need to set the nameserver for it in your account. This lets the domain know where your site is located so that your visitors will be able to view it.

Log into your GoDaddy account, and choose “Domain Manager” from the left hand menu.
Locate the domain name you wish to point and click the “Details” link.
In the top menu, select “Nameservers.” A dialog box to set nameservers will appear.
Select “I will host my domains with another provider” and enter the new nameservers provided by your host in the first two boxes Nameserver 1 and Nameserver 2.
Hit OK and youre done!

It can take up to 48 hours for your nameservers to properly propigate throughout the internet, but in my experience with GoDaddy, the changeover happens within a couple of hours.

Adding Photos to WordPress Blog

To add single photos, or several full sized photos to a wordpress blog;

1. Click on the “Add Photo” logo directly next to “Upload/Insert”

2. From the next screen, chose “Select File”, then browse to and select the photo you wish to display.

3. Once the photo is uploaded, a preview of the image along with options to place an image caption, description, link, align or rezise the image. Click “Insert into Post” and the image will appear in your blog post ready for you to publish.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 for each full sized photo you would like to enter into your blog.
